2021 Summer Camps

Summer Camp registration opens on Tuesday, April 13 at 8:00 a.m. for NCPRD residents and on Tuesday, April 20 for non-residents.

Dance Around the World | Ages 4-6
Explore the world through dance. Discover exciting dance choreography and techniques from different cultures, including the customs and costumes that bring each dance to life. Dancers will also make accessories to wear for a final presentation. Open to boys and girls.

Hawaiian Hula Days | Ages 4-6
Hawaii comes to you! Explore songs and dances from the islands. Study the language and culture, play ancient Hawaiian games, make leis and accessories for an end-of-camp hula performance. Discover your voice and get to know the world of others. Open to boys and girls.

Cheer Starz | Ages 5-11
Full Day Camp; Early childcare available
Show your spirit with NCPRD’s award-winning Cheer Starz camp! Campers learn a choreographed cheerleading routine incorporating jumps and dance steps to be performed for family and friends on the final day of camp. Camp participants are invited to walk in the City of Happy Valley’s Independence Day Parade on the Fourth of July. Parade participants are responsible for transportation to and from the parade site. Pom poms are a required add-on purchase for this camp and are an additional $19.50 per set.

Inclusion Cheer Camp | Ages 9-18
Show your spirit with NCPRD’s award-winning Cheer Starz camp! Campers with a disability or special need will learn a choreographed cheerleading routine incorporating basic arm motions and dance steps that will be performed for family and friends on the final day of camp. The cheer routine will be modified to fit participants’ abilities and needs. Pom Poms are a required add-on purchase for this camp and are an additional $19.50 per set.

Horseback Riding | Ages 8-18
Learn the ropes of English style riding. Highland Stables offers professional instruction on riding and horse care. Campers are required to wear boots or hard-soled shoes. Riding helmets are provided for all participants.

Outdoor Explorers | Ages 6-11
Early childcare available
Discover the world around you! Campers will roll up their sleeves and dig into fun as they learn about and explore the great outdoors through a variety of nature-themed projects, crafts and activities. This camp will enjoy hikes through Hidden Falls, Mount Talbert Nature Park, and the new park at Boardman Wetlands to observe nature and identify native plants and animals.

Mad Science: Micro-Scientists | Ages 4-7
Calling all micro-scientists! Science is all around us all the time. Discover the secrets of creepy crawly “bugs” and wiggly worms. Learn about dinosaurs and why they became extinct. Science is involved in everything we do, from the colors we see to the air we breathe, and even our own bodies.

Mad Science: Microscopic Explorers | Ages 7-12
Start off with a bang by creating some amazing chemical reactions! Make a lemon-powered battery, find out how aspirin works and witness some frenetic fireworks. Discover how chemicals combine to form living cells, and take a look through a microscope to see one up close. Learn how living cells combine to form functioning organs, and what yours do for you. Understand your body from the atoms on up!

Flag Football Camp | Ages 5-12
Early childcare available
Let’s play some flag football! This camp will teach the fundamentals of pull-the-flag football while campers have a blast running through sports-specific drills and playing varied camp games. Techniques taught in this camp are the same as the age-appropriate USA Football techniques taught in our spring Flag Football program. Campers will compete in mini-scrimmages on Friday.

Fun Field Days | Ages 5-11

Get outside and play! Campers will enjoy a variety of outdoor sports, games and activities. To beat the heat, select Fun Field Days camps will enjoy a very fun water day on the field!

Lacrosse | Ages 8-12

Campers will have a blast learning no-contact, small group lacrosse. This camp will focus on individual lacrosse skill drills and small group activities. To showcase newly learned skills, campers will also compete in mini-games.

Soccer | Ages 5-11

Dribble it, kick it and shoot a goal! Campers will learn soccer fundamentals through fun drills and camp games. On Friday, to showcase their new skills, campers may compete in mini-games. If the weather is hot, campers may also participate in fun water games during the week.

Super Hoopers Basketball | Ages 5-14
Full day and half day options available; Early childcare available
Dribble, drive and dish the ball! Open to all skill levels, campers will hit the court to learn the basics of the game and pick up additional advanced skills from a variety of activities, drills and exciting games. To relax and rejuvenate before hitting the court again, campers in our full day camp may also enjoy movie time during their lunch break.

Tennis | Ages 9-13
Campers will enjoy learning the proper grip, footwork and techniques for each stroke, all while mastering the rules and etiquette of this lifetime sport. Tennis racquets provided.
Beginner – If learning the fundamentals of the game of tennis is your goal, you won’t want to miss out on this camp! Campers will learn and practice various groundstrokes through numerous exciting games and challenges.

Run faster and go farther. Campers will experience the thrill of setting new personal bests in track and field events like sprints, relays, javelin and more. This camp will conclude with a mini meet to showcase campers’ newly learned skills.

Early childcare available for morning camp
Campers will focus on learning correct volleyball fundamentals from skilled volleyball staff in a small group setting while running through sports-specific drills and various other non-volleyball related camp games and activities.  This camp teaches the same techniques as NCPRD’s Fall Sideout Volleyball Program.

Kick-it, throw-it, dribble it and dunk-it! Preschool-aged children will learn a new sport each day while developing motor skills in a fun and supportive environment. Campers will also enjoy playing a variety of camp games, have some time to relax during story time, and will create several art and craft projects during the week.

Campers with a special need or disability will have a blast in this camp, designed to keep the mind engaged and body active! What safety protocols are in place?

Protecting the health of our campers and staff is our top priority. Learn what measures we’re putting into place to mitigate risk and keep you and your family safe. Highlights can be found below, and more details on safety protocols can be found here.

  • Smaller, stable groups of campers
  • Increased sanitation practices and safety protocols
  • Social distancing education and activities
  • Low- or no-contact check-in process
  • Daily contact and attendance logs for campers and staff
  • Screenings for symptoms of illness, including daily health checks
  • Facial coverings required upon arrival and during indoor activities

Are Happy Valley residents still able to sign up for NCPRD Summer Camps?

The City of Happy Valley has officially withdrawn from North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District. Happy Valley residents are welcome to sign up for NCPRD summer camps and other programs, but as of July 1, 2020 are no longer eligible to receive discounted NCPRD resident rates and priority registration.

Are scholarships available for NCPRD Summer Camps?

Yes, scholarships are available for NCPRD-sponsored or run programs, and for in-district residents only. Download the scholarship application here.

NCPRD Scholarship requests will be awarded or denied based on verifiable information provided by the applicant and the criteria established. Scholarships are granted or denied based on financial need as determined by NCPRD staff. Scholarships can be submitted by email to Kandi Ho at kandih@ncprd.com.
