Virtual Fitness Classes

NCPRD is now offering select fitness classes through Zoom! Our goal is to provide residents with opportunities to exercise with an instructor and experience the camaraderie of a fitness class virtually, while allowing for social distancing and keeping people safe during COVID-19.

FITNESS LEVEL
These classes are recommended for people who are active and/or have been participating in moderate exercise programs twice a week.

Not sure if a virtual fitness class is right for you? Try FREE workshops first, which will be offered on Zoom for each class prior to signing up for the full session. Please be sure to pre-register for the workshops. After signing up for the free workshop, get a 10% discount on the full class!

REGISTRATION
Sign up for a free workshop or class here.  Once registered, you will receive a link to access the Zoom fitness class. When signing up for these classes you will need: a smart device (ie. smartphone or tablet) or computer with speakers and preferably a camera, a space big enough to perform the exercises (preferably 4’ x 6’ or larger), and in some cases equipment as noted in the class description. Yoga Workshop
Experience yoga through Zoom in the safety of your own home. Deep breaths relax the mind and body while helping you through safe and proper alignment of basic yoga postures and gentle movement. The result is increased strength, flexibility and balance. You will need a mat. First 10 minutes will be dedicated to learning basic features on Zoom. Please register by July 10.

Zumba combines Latin and international music that incorporates hip-hop, cumbia, reggaeton, salsa, merengue, mambo and more. Build strength, burn calories, improve motion and posture. No class June 30 and July 2.

Gold Toning
Learn to sculpt and tone through creative and fun dance routines using hand-held weights. World music with lively rhythms pumps this class up! You will need light hand weights (1 or 2 lb) or a can that has a small diameter (like an aerosol can).

INNERgystics
INNERgystics is a unique workout comprised of a series of focused simultaneous upper and lower body exercises that build lean muscle strength and sculpt the body. Fun music, various weights, and breathing techniques help keep the focus on movements that optimize muscle burning, providing an aerobic workout, and sense of well-being. You will need a mat, water bottle, sneakers and 3 lb hand weights (water bottles with gravel will work too.)

Low-Impact Aerobic Strength Training
This class is perfect for people just getting started or coming back from an extended break. Alternate between simple and safe, low impact movements. Light weights are used to help condition the whole body, while listening to fun and motivating music. You will need a light pair of hand weights 1-4 lbs  (water bottles are fine) to take this class.

Exercentrics
Take your workout to a new level with this unique strengthening class. Use dumbbells and your body weight to perform multi-muscle, high repetition movements that will ultimately work the entire body. The music will keep you moving and your breathing will keep you focused. Finish with a relaxing cool down and stretches. You will need hand weights (a variety of weights 3-5 lbs are recommended, but water bottles will do) to take this class.

What is a zoom class? Zoom classes take place wherever YOU are while watching an instructor through a computer or smart device. The classes are live on a specified day, date and time. You will be able to see the instructor perform as well as see fellow students. As a participant, you have options to not have yourself be seen by others and/or heard by others. At the end of a class, the instructor has the option to unmute everyone to be able to socialize or to get feedback. If you are using a smart device, you will need to download the free zoom app. If you are on a computer, all you have to do is click on the link that is sent to you for the class.
