Concert in the Park: Red Yarn

Kids and families are invited to join us for a delightful 45-minute folk concert with Andy Ferguson, aka “Red Yarn,” and his puppet critters. With traditional and original songs that blend folk, rock’n’roll, country and blues, Red Yarn’s sound is both rooted and modern. His energetic performances will have you singing, dancing, making new friends and experiencing the joy of community at this inclusive family event. Pre-concert activities include balloon animals and face painting. Food by Pidgin Hole and Humdinger Kettle Korn.

Concert in the Park: Clancy Newman and Stewart Goodyear

Grab a lawn chair or a blanket and bring the entire family to enjoy live chamber music at North Clackamas Park. This concert is FREE and open to all ages. Proclaimed “a phenomenon” by the Los Angeles Times and “one of the best pianists of his generation” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Stewart Goodyear is an accomplished concert pianist, improviser, and composer. Partnering with the phenomenal Clancy Newman who, as a composer, has expanded cello technique in ways previously thought impossible—particularly in his “Pop-Unpopped” project, where he writes solo cello caprices based on pop songs. This concert will be presented in partnership with Chamber Music NW summer festival and SoundsTruck NW, the Pacific Northwest’s premier mobile venue. The Nu Wavers Concert in the Park

Enjoy waterfront views while dancing to your favorite classic hits and alternative gems. With five distinct singers, The Nu Wavers capture the diversity of some of the most memorable eras in pop culture. Hearth and Soul Pizza, Pidgin Hole, Alchemy Sandwich Co., Neighborhood Creamery, Breakside Brewery and Hip Chicks Do Wine will be on-site.

Kenari Quartet – Chamber Music Northwest Summer Festival
Applauded for their “flat-out amazing” performances and “stunning virtuosity” (Cleveland Classical), the highly acclaimed Kenari Quartet will perform a variety of music to entertain the entire family. Presented in partnership with SoundsTruck NW, the Pacific Northwest’s premier mobile venue. Snacks will be available for purchase to support the Milwaukie Community Center Foundation. Red Yarn Concert in the Park

Kids and their families are invited to join us for a delightful 45-minute folk concert with acclaimed Portland family performer Red Yarn (aka Andy Furgeson). Weaving folksongs and puppetry into high-energy, interactive shows, Red Yarn will have audiences singing, dancing, stomping, clapping, while introducing his Critter friends along the way. These handmade animal puppets provide comic relief, calm and tender moments, and valuable social-emotional lessons sure to entertain all ages. Face painting and other kids activities will be on-site.

Afternoon Performance with the Anderson-Sasaki Duo

Enjoy live classical music at the Milwaukie Community Center, with a free and interactive performance with the Anderson-Sasaki Duo. Sharing a passion for chamber music and a strong belief that everyone in any community should have the opportunity to find a personal connection with music, Portland-native violinist Rebecca Anderson and pianist Mika Sasaki have joined forces to create community residencies and imaginative programs that can forge lasting and meaningful connections with audiences. Presented by Chamber Music Northwest.
